Scania showcasing a diverse portfolio of solutions for secure and sustainable urban environments at IFAT 2026. This collection supports municipalities in their quest for a greener future. Scanias comprehensive offerings include electrification, biofuels, and a wide range of versatile and efficient combustion engines.
”This year, Scania brings a complete offering to IFAT,” she says. ”We present an all-encompassing package for all municipal needs, including extremely fuel-efficient diesel engines that can also run on HVO and biodiesel, gas engines for biogas, and battery-electric solutions. This enables customers to choose the energy source that best suits their needs. Essentially, it”s all about Scania, all solutions.”
To illustrate the breadth of this offering, Scania invites representatives from cities and municipalities to booth 711/5, where various examples of sustainable solutions are displayed. Scanias urban applications are extensive and designed to meet the typical challenges faced by truck drivers and operators in urban settings.
”Gas trucks and battery-electric vehicles are in high demand, especially for waste management,” she says. Scania invests heavily in the development of battery-electric vehicles, which serve as another crucial pillar for sustainable daily operations in our cities. However, a lack of knowledge and experience can sometimes hinder the transition.
”We guide our customers in their transition journey,” she states. ”Whether the solution is electric or based on renewable fuels, we support them in the best possible way through partnerships.”
For those focusing on fuel economy, the Super 11-liter engine, built on Scania”s most advanced driveline platform, is an option. The engine is also compatible with HVO and biodiesel as alternative fuels. Advanced combustion technology reduces fuel consumption while maintaining performance. This well-balanced combination of power and efficiency maximizes uptime and long-term profitability.
Alongside sustainability, safety has always been a priority for Scania. The L-series cabins, specifically developed for urban traffic, have received the highest possible ratings from the European consumer organization Euro NCAP”s Safer Trucks program. The same applies to Scanias P-series for distribution and community service, where driver environments are ideal for municipal applications.
”Thanks to Scania”s modular approach, the possibilities to customize solutions for demanding applications are nearly unlimited,” she concludes. ”We continue to reduce CO2 emissions from our vehicles by improving their energy efficiency and lessening their dependence on fossil fuels.”
The following vehicles will be displayed at Scania”s booth 711/5: Biogas-powered waste vehicle with a FAUN superstructure: L 280 B6x2*4; Battery-electric truck with 360 kW motor, specially adapted for street cleaning; Battery-electric truck with 400 kW motor, tailor-made for urban applications; Battery-electric truck with 270 kW motor, optimized for crane installations.
